About Becca & Bluebell Yarns

Becca, a white woman with long dark hair stands in front of wooden crates full of brightly coloured yarn.

Bluebell Yarns began in late 2015 when I, Becca, decided to turn my hobby of dyeing wool into a business.

By 2015 I had already been knitting for several years, and occasionally dyed yarn for myself. I began dyeing yarn because I found it difficult to source the kind of materials I wanted to craft with. I was increasingly becoming interested in natural fibres and avoiding synthetics wherever possible.

I wanted the beautiful and fun colours that are often found among hand-dyed yarn, but on the non-superwash, synthetic free yarns that are nearly always found undyed. While the natural colours are beautiful, I didn’t want to be forced to choose between the beautiful colours on yarn I didn’t enjoy working with, and the natural colours of the yarn I did.

My goal with Bluebell Yarns is to bridge this gap and bring fun, bright colours together with the wonderful characteristics of natural British yarn.

You can read more about why and how I choose to use the yarn bases I dye here.
