Coming Up

Sodbury Yarn Over, 6th-7th April 2024

The Sodbury Yarn Over is a brand new show this year. It takes place in Chipping Sodbury, just outside of Bristol. I’m always looking for new events to attend in the West country and this fits that nicely. Organised by Jo from The Wool Cellar and Deb from Fibre Faery & Crafty Cat Knitty Bits, its shaping up to be a fantastic weekend. All the event information is available on The Sodbury Yarnover website, and tickets are for sale now.

The Great British Fibre Festival, 1st-2nd June 2024

The Great British Fibre Festival takes place at Coldharbour Mill in Devon. The show will be a celebration of British Wool, exploring the heritage of working with wool with the backdrop of the working mill museum. There will be exhibitors selling their yarn and fibre, demonstrations of various woolly crafts, and the museum will be open and working. On Saturday the mill will be powered by electricity, while on Sunday the steam engines will be fired up so visitors can experience how the mill used to work.

I’m very much looking forward to this show. It’s going to be like a bigger and better version of Fibre Quest, with the same organisers being involved. You can read more and buy tickets at The Great British Fibre Festival website.

Past Shows

Stitch Fest South West, 4th-5th November 2023

Quarterjack Quilters Sewcial Charity Event, 16th September 2023

A different sort of event for me, this one is just down the road! The Quarterjack Quilters are a local group who are holding a crafting event to raise money for the Motor Neuron Disease Association. I’ll be there with a selection of my yarns, and I’ll also be doing a 30 minute talk about the advantages of using wool.

The event is mainly quilting themed, with demonstrations and quilting related stalls. It’s taking place at The Hamworthy Club, Magna Road, BH21 3AP. For tickets and more information email robertson.jacqui@gmail.com.

Fibre Quest is once again taking place at Fernhill Farm near Bristol. A collaboration between Fernhill Farm and Stitch Fest, the show focuses on showcasing the use of wool and natural fibres. Fernhill Farm is a sheep farm, where one of their priorities is breeding for good quality wool.

It was a fantastic show last year, and this year will be doubling in size! As well as exhibitors there are workshops, talks and demonstrations including sheep dog displays and a workshop where you can learn to blade shear a sheep under expert tuition!

Museum of East Dorset Christmas Shopping Evening, 24th November 2022

This will be the first local craft show I’ve done, and the first show not dedicated to all things woolly! It’s just down the road from me so it’ll be nice not to have to travel far. I’ll only be taking a small selection due to space, so if there’s anything you particularly want me to bring please drop me a message.
