Weymouth
Weymouth is the third biggest town in Dorset after Bournemouth and Poole. It has a long history dating back to the 12th century, and is now a popular tourist destination. Like many seaside towns around Britain, Weymouth’s economy relies on tourism. Thanks to its harbour, beaches and position on the Jurassic Coast the town has many attractions to draw people to visit.
The sailing events of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games were held in Weymouth. Before the games took place a period of regeneration was undertaken, improving the town’s attractions and amenities. It was voted Number 1 in The Times Best UK Beaches in 2023.
There are lots of colours in Weymouth that drew my eye, and I ended up using the colours of the beach huts combined with popular beach accessories as the colour inspiration for the yarn.
