Tropical Sea – Corriedale No-Nylon Sock Yarn
Tropical Sea is a 100g skein of Falkland Corriedale no-nylon sock yarn. It is a tonal 4ply/fingering weight dyed in shades of turquoise.
The base yarn is 100% non-superwash Falkland Corriedale wool, prepared and spun in Yorkshire and dyed in Dorset. The wool is naturally cream in colour.
Although this yarn does not contain Nylon, it is suitable for socks because it is made from Corriedale which is a sturdy yet soft wool. It has been spun with a high twist to add extra strength to it. This yarn will last well compared to other synthetic-free yarns, however, I have yet to find a synthetic-free, non-superwash yarn which can match the longevity of nylon blend equivalents. You can read more about this yarn base here. As well as working wonderfully for socks, this yarn is also suitable for garments and accessories. It has great stitch definition so will show off lace or cable patterns well.
Each 4ply/fingering weight 100g skein is approximately 400m in length.
The yarn has not been superwash treated so requires hand washing unless you intend for it to felt. Due to the dyeing process no two skeins are identical.
