I’ve been working on the idea of Bluebell Basics for some time now, especially after the survey I asked everyone to fill in last month. Now, I’m finally ready to release it! What is Bluebell Basics? Bluebell Basics is a range of affordable hand-dyed yarns. To begin with there are four yarn weights and ten colourways although I hope to expand this over time. I will also be adding mini-skeins to the range soon. I am working on having shade… Read More »Introducing Bluebell Basics
I’m excited to announce that I have been working with Liz Corke to create a sock kit! She’s designed a wonderful pattern with my 100% Falkland Corriedale High Twist sock yarn in the Violet Shadows colourway. The kit contains a printed copy of the Stravaig sock pattern (a code for a digital download is available on request) plus a skein of Corriedale sock yarn in the colourway of your choice. You can also choose to add a set of stitch markers… Read More »First Sock Kit!
I’m happy to announce that for the latest yarn update, I’ve dyed some BFL/Masham Aran weight. The 4ply version of this 75% Bluefaced Leicester 25% Masham blend has always been fairly popular. The natural grey of the Masham combined with the softness of the BFL makes for a lovely soft yarn with a gorgeous depth of colour. Of course like all my yarn it hasn’t been superwash treated and contains no synthetic fibres. I decided to use semi-solid colours for… Read More »Yarn Update – BFL/Masham Aran
I can’t quite believe it’s the middle of August already! This year has been so strange, yet seems to have sped by. You may have already seen, but I’m excited to say that from today Bluebell Yarns is now my full time job! I’ve just returned from a week off so I thought now would be a good time to do a round up of everything you can find in the shop at the moment. Sale! As there are now… Read More »August Update
Wonderwool Roundup This weekend I exhibited at Wonderwool Wales. This was my first show and it was fantastic! I met so many lovely people, and received some wonderful comments about my yarn. The weather on Saturday was horrid and it was freezing in the halls, so thank you to everyone who braved the wind and rain to come out and visit! Luckily on Sunday the weather was much nicer so I think everyone had an even better time. As it… Read More »Post Wonderwool Shop Update
Show Announcement I’m happy to announce that this year Bluebell Yarns will be visiting our first yarn shows! The first will be Wonderwool Wales on 27th-28th April. The second will be The Wool Monty on 15th-16th June. You can read more about them on the show page. Yarn Update I’ve updated the Etsy Shop with lots of lovely new yarn. I’m just writing a quick update today about a couple of things. New Logo You may have noticed I have a new logo. My lovely sister-in-law Abbi designed it for me. Usually she designs cards and fabrics so I highly recommend you take a look at her work on Etsy and on Instagram. Yarn News I’m in the process of updating the Etsy site with all my yarn. I also dyed a significant quantity over the last few days so… Read More »Brand New Logo
The #titsoutcollective yarn is now released! You can see mine here, and everyone else’s here. Follow #titsoutcollective on social media. Check back here tomorrow at 7pm to read about why I selected my chosen charity, Dogs For Good. My ‘If I wanted exposure, I’ll get my tits out (but I’ll need assistance)’ yarn is initially available as a small batch. When this sells out, I will open pre-orders. I will aim to get pre-orders dyed and shipped out within two… Read More »Charity yarn is now live! (#titsoutcollective)
On 1st July at 12pm (BST), something special is going to happen. I, along with over 200 others (the #titsoutcollective), will be releasing special yarns, patterns, bags and notions, with the aim of raising money for various charities. You can read more details at Countess Ablaze but here is a brief explanation. Back in March, Countess Ablaze was asked to provide yarn for a ‘charity’ event for nothing but exposure. In response, she dyed two special limited colourways, one of which… Read More »Charity Yarn Release (#titsoutcollective)
I’ve finally found it! I’ve finally got my hands on some British (well, mostly, more on that below), non-superwash, no nylon sock yarn! I say mostly British, because it isn’t 100%. After much thought and consideration, I have decided that this is a good enough compromise for now until I find something better. The new sock yarn is a blend of 50% British Mohair and roughly 25% British Falkland Islands/25% South American Corriedale. As I said before, it contains no… Read More »Sock Yarn and a Newsletter
